Morgan Quitno Press released their Crime Rankings of 440 US cities.

The rankings are calculated on a per capita basis using the latest year FBI statistics for violent and property crime.

A peek at the U.S. cities, numbers are the ranking out of 440 US cities:

Wow. So California has 17 cities in the top 50 safest and 4 cities in the top 50 most dangerous.

6 of those safest cities are all concentrated in Orange County.

Gary's position is actually surprisingly lower, given that they get well into the 50's in terms of homicides in a city of 80,000. Its lowest homicide count was 30 in 2011.

Lets take the numner 1's, how can you possibly compare middle of nowhere Indiana to one of the bigger cities in the country? This study is pure **** that seems to follow no logical guidlines

It is better to look at the overall crime stats of a metropolitan area.
