Not surprising...

In Top 4, only better than Chile, Mexico and Turkey

It's not bc the poor are so poor.
It's because people have the ability to get so rich.

Nah, it's because there's been a purposeful dismantling of the middle class. There are incredibly poor people here, millions of them (go to any inner city or most Indian reservations, if you need to see the "proof" with your own eyes), and a tiny class of very-wealthy people funding the continued attack on the middle class.

Except that the US has some of the lowest income mobility in the world.

U.S. lags behind peer countries in mobility | Economic Policy Institute

So it is not an ability of people to get rich... it's an ability of the rich in this country to hoard their wealth and increase it.

I'll never understand why so many like stan4 are so defensive of the super rich in this country. They don't need your admiration; they certainly don't care about you or any of us.

They hoard billions of dollars that will never enter circulation. There is no "trickle down" on money that sits in an un-taxed, off shore account. The economy takes a hit, as does the virtually non-existent middle class left in this country.

The scary honest truth is, not everyone can be super rich. There literally is not enough money to go around. And the rich don't want to give a dime of their wealth away, whether they use it or not. So we are all out of luck. But hey, let's defend the guy with $15 billion dollars right to keep it.

I see the clickbait kink, but where is the story, and the statistics behind it?

Please, please stop posting click-bait as an "opening premise" to a forum discussion. This is also in the wrong subforum..

It's a more interesting premise than most. Does it make you uncomfortable or something? I've never seen you speak up on these "issues" before

There is no where else in the world that has the kind of mobility the US does unless there happens to be an oilfield in your backyard.

Don't complain.

Right, whenever something is bad, if there's something worse somewhere else, be happy
