I'm a bit surprised people from the Pac NorthWest tolerate higher temperatures than the upper Midwest. I'd imagine it would be flipped but this is maybe a reflection of the Pac NorthWest having unusually warmer summers lately.
I was surprised by that, as well, and I think you may be right about the recent warm summers. Though this weekend it is back to high 60's and low 70's with brilliant sunshine, which is just about perfect to me.
Personally, with high humidity I'd prefer no warmer than 80.

Away from the coast it's often desert-like. Earlier this month some spots in Washington were in the 100s, with around 10% relative humidity.
Anything over 85 or so is too hot for my taste. I like cooler weather, I actually love winter for the most part. 90% of summer in Chicago is fine for me, a few hot days, but that's ok as long as it's novel and not "typical".
I'm in NJ today and I'm dying.95 for the high today? Way, way to hot.
I don't think it cracked 90 today (I'm in the city today), but it was hot! First heat wave of the year (hopefully the last too). The humidity is low, at least.
Depends on what part of the metro you live in. 75-80 is probably too hot for many San Franciscan's; 80-85 for inner East Bay, Penninsula residents; 90-95+ for outer East Bay, South Bay Residents.

It also depends what you want to do. If you want to go hiking? Yes 70s is best weather and 90s is too hot to be comfortable doing it.
If you want to go swimming? Even 80s is fairly cold for that.
If it's 95 but with low humidity or a comfortable dewpoint, I'm good with that. I sweat easily though. But I'll manage. I usually carry a towel and drink water from my bottle. 90 with high humidity and dewpoints hovering around 70 and I'm uncomfortable.
