By coastal standards yes, but IIRC it's still the most expensive metro in the Midwest after Chicago.

But OP, you've used the word "cheap" several times now as if that's all you care about. How cheap do you need? Because at some point, you'll need to pay to live in an area that is desirable to you.

Like others have already stated, compared to the coasts, it's dirt cheap (yet, even on a creative professional's budget, I still can't afford an apartment that isn't the size of a closet).

Compared to the rest of the country, it's more expensive.
