The question would assume that the immediate surroundings of an urban college campus would be part of such an urban college district. However, it is mostly framed in terms of inter-neighborhood culture shock within the same city.

I know Minnesota doesn't have much of a culture shock if you get further from campus than Marcy-Holmes to the northwest or Stadium Village to the southeast, but try getting further than Forest Park (or DeBaliviere Place) to either the north or the east from WUSTL. Or further away from Hyde Park (and UChicago). Or USC vis-à-vis its area of Los Angeles.

Are there other urban college districts that can induce serious culture shock once you enter one?

There are sooo many urban campuses. I think when someone chooses an urban school, they're not going to be culturally shocked...they made that choice.

Georgetown is not an urban college district, Georgetown is actually older than DC, but it certainly feels different once you leave Georgetown. Just driving on Canal road a few minutes can feel like you are entering a new city

Coppin students are definitely shocked when they see the surrounding area. I'd venture to say that Johns Hopkins students are shocked too when they see the area surrounding the campus. For one would be pleasantly surprised; however, the other would be like "wtf?!"

Howard University. The neighborhoods nearby can be a little rough around the edges and gritty (especially Georgia Ave) but it's still plenty fun
