Default Raleigh, NC or Louisville, Kentucky?

Can anyone who has lived or spent some time in both of these places give me a comparison of the two. What did you like or not like about each place. Which do you think would offer a better quality of life for a family. TIA

Raleigh is growing so fast that school overcrowding is a major problem. They are currently planning on reassigning 7,000 students to different schools

The Louisville area is growing more moderately and doesn't have growth problems of that magnitude

Raleigh for one reason...its proximity to the ocean. Louisville is the best city, but it is a long way from the coast.

Raleigh has a larger airport, more employment opportunities, lower taxes (NC vs. KY), it's nowhere near as dumpy as Louisville, there are tons more colleges and universities in the area, and it's not too far from spectacular beaches and gorgeous mountains (the tallest east of the Rockies).
