Glad to see Charleston,SC made it to the top of this list for something positive this time-our crime rating was less than flattering. I would have to say Charlotte, North Carolina is my first pick. The city is very progressive and I found the people I met while there to be surprisingly laid-back and relatively friendly despite the heavy corporate influence, ie, Bank of America, Wachovia, etc. I was expecting more of a "stuffy" environment. Most of my trips to Charlotte have been business-related in South Charlotte or Uptown. I do have close relatives in Charlotte as well, so I've had leisure time and "work-time" in the city and the experience is always the same over the years: Welcoming, almost as if the city is inviting me to move there..

I haven't spent a LOT of time there, but they've always seemed pleasant to me! I'd say that Portland is much friendlier, but Seattle has a very cool & laid-back vibe... love it.

Milwaukee, WI: Very friendly people all around, and a very nice city as well.
Buffalo, NY: These people are generally very friendly as well, even though some parts of the city aren't so nice.

San Diego and San Antonio for me. Both towns have a strong military presence that I like too!:-)

Charleston, South Carolina has been named the friendliest city for several years in a row. I live nearby and have to agree, real Southern Hospitality does exist in Charleston.

Default Central Illinois 1

The friendliest cities that I have spent time in (in no particular order) are:

1. Atlanta
2. Indy
3. Coronado, CA (San Diego Area)
4. San Francisco (Soooo much friendlier than most other huge areas!)
5. Nashville
6. Green Bay/Appleton/Oshkosh (Fox River Valley), WI

I would say people in New Orleans were very friendly and also Dallas, Phoenix I encountered some rude people.

2 of the most friendliest people I have ever met have came from San Diego, I cant believe how friendly they were.

Doesn't mean that the people are unfriendly... Just means you'd have a hard time if you were trying to be their friend.
