Topeka, KS. I had a good time where I was at, but driving through the place was kind of depressing.

P.S. Those beach pics were taken on December 24th... not bad for the middle of winter, eh? And to get back on-topic, I'll add Detroit to my list!

it's those photos that get those California-haters all riled up!
Fleet- your mention of Northridge, CA in your profile brings me back memories of when I was 20, living in the good ol' San Fernando Valley & when it was still in the 70s & 80s through the winter...

Yes, I think I've mentioned here when during the middle of the winter, the evening temperature will rise from a "cool" 58 degrees to 70 degrees within 15 mintues or so. Due to the warm Santa Ana winds. It has done that quite a few times at around 10:00 PM.
When it happens, I can't resist going for a walk or jumping on my bike. I'm all ready for it this year!

I've said it before and i'll say it again - Jacksonville, Fla.
Here's the story of my stay in Jacksonville. My friend and I arrived and stopped at a Subway. We got scowled at by the girl serving us, and she even got an attitude with me when I asked her if she had any sort of vinegarette (how do you spell that) which I could put on my sub.
Next, after passing several half empty strip malls, we arrived at our hotel. The hotel next door had been closed and was overgrown with weeds. Our hotel had a front desk that was behind, i assume, bulletproof glass. The best part was the way the staff had to BREAK IN to our room so we could just get IN THERE because the lock was screwed up.
Then, the girl at the venue we were going to for a concert also scowled at us when we asked about the guest list we were supposed to be on, and once we got inside, I thought there was some sort of rule that you couldn't stand on the floor in front of the stage, because all of the crazy kids at the show stood around on this balcony thing. Plus they have some rule there where you can't swear on stage? how strange. All of the guys in the band that I went to see even said that Jacksonville is a crappy place.

Southern California is a cesspool I would never want to see again even though I can afford to live there. Why you ask? Well the people are unfriendly, the place is boring outside of some parts of LA, too much crime and pollution ( yes this includes those "world class beaches" ) too many haters and attitudes. Those glassy eyed Southern Cal supporters who can't see the truth always hate folks like me who are not brainwashed and can see the truth through the s**t (I mean smog)

New Haven, CT - Stopped on my way from Boston to NYC, to see a friend at Yale... didn't impress me one bit - in fact, it scared me a little. There is some beautiful architecture on campus, though.

in defense of NH, there are some ghetto areas (in fact, probably over 50%) but there's a lot of history too. the campus area by chapel & church streets and the green are quite nice. a lot of activity in that area over the weekends. some good restaurants - for fine dining and the best pizza outside of nyc. during the summers, there's a weekly free concert series on the green with fairly big acts. its home of toad's place - a great club that's hosted many big acts. also, theres an area by the west rock mountains that is very picturesque. can't forget yale bowl (one of most historic stadiums) & it hosts the pilot pen tennis tournament (a well known warm-up prior to the u.s. open). okay okay, i grew up here but its certainly more that just a ghetto. remember, the hamburger was invented here
