I picked North Carolina. Never lived there but, I would give it a try.

-Virginia lived there for 7 years. HighSchool in Va Beach. 2 years in Richmond.
-Been in Texas for 1.5 years. Its just ok. Dating stinks.
-Massachusetts stayed there for 6 weeks during the summer in central Mass. Just got offered a job Monday to work in Boston. Boston is nice but, unaffordable and I cannot deal with all that snow.

Yeah, I know what you mean. MA would never be a consideration for me.

Apparently far more people here seem to agree with my two top choices.

So? I don't base my own likes and dislikes on the opinions of others, and I don't make decisions about where to live or even visit based on C-D polls.

I gave my own reasons for choosing Texas, and clearly stated that VA is my very close second choice, followed closely by NC. I really like the four seasons that both NC and VA have, as well as the variety of terrain. Love the beaches and the mountains and the rich history. Most of all though, I love the temperate weather of both those states. Texas is where my heart is, but I'm honest enough to admit that it's too damn hot here for too damn long in the summer. (Winters are fabulous though!)

I wouldn't choose MA mainly because of the harsh winters - I don't much care for that aspect of MA. I'd like to visit Boston and Salem though - in fact we're going to be visiting there in 2016. But there are lots of places I'd love to visit that I wouldn't really want to live in. I'm sure you feel the same way.

1) Virginia
2) Massachusetts
3) North Carolina
4) Texas

Climate is an important factor to me, and Texas ranks dead last.

And, what about those winters that Boston gets? It snows in northern Texas pretty much every year, but not to the extent of say, Boston or Arlington, VA. North Carolina gets way too much rain. Texas for the most part is pretty mild compared to these states.

I would pick MA, I liked living in Boston great college town and educated population, only downside cost of living, weather for me too cold and high taxes.

Have you ever been to Amarillo? It's one of the bleakest, most depressing cities I've ever been to.
