It seems like everywhere known to be a "musical city" goes hand in hand with rising prices. Can someone suggest a city that has a vibrant music scene (live music, close to festivals, open mic venues, audio engineering schools, etc.) that is still an affordable place to live. I still have to pay for schooling wherever i end up but want a place with some entertainment. Any thoughts?

I agree. Both Nashville and Austin fit the bill, though Austin is supposedly getting pricier these days
