It seems like everywhere known to be a "musical city" goes hand in hand with rising prices. Can someone suggest a city that has a vibrant music scene (live music, close to festivals, open mic venues, audio engineering schools, etc.) that is still an affordable place to live. I still have to pay for schooling wherever i end up but want a place with some entertainment. Any thoughts?

exactly. I have heard the same thing gameguy. Apparently its so desirable these days that its "fast becoming another L.A." Omaha has been suggested but I havent had many responses regarding the music scene on the Omaha thread.
Memphis is great for music.. and probably more affordable than those already mentioned.
