Interesting list. The southeastern United States really needs to do a better job in developing sustainable/green initiatives. With all the trees and vegetation, it is a very green part of the country. I just wish there was a bigger drive to protect the environment. Still, I was happy to see a couple of southeastern cities make the list (Huntsville, Athens, etc).

Kind of surprised to see St. Louis on here. It's not typically considered green. Although I guess having the metro so people don't have to drive, and having Forest Park, Tower Grove Park, and lots of other little parks helped its score.

Kansas City is on there as well.

What about Lexington, Louisville, Alexandria, Greensboro, Newport News? Fort Worth, Austin and Amarillo ranked highly as well if you consider Texas southern. I do agree though that the large metros in the South need to do a much better job.

I did notice the complete absence of Florida from this list of greenest cities.
