I'd probably ask the clerk what is meant by a blessed day,
is this some kind of religious store?
if so what kind of religion?.
Dont be jumping to the conclusion that i want to have my days blessed by your religion, having a happy day will suffice,,
OK dont get mad i was just yanking your chain
I just wish the customer service workers around here would atleast smile and say "Thank you" at the end of transaction instead of just handing you your stuff and saying nothing with a big scowl on their face.

You aint wrong there . Some of these sales people actually give me the impression that its an inconvenience for them to serve their customers.
Was in a shoe store the other day at the local mall, might have been Footlocker, the sales guys were dressed in black and white referee shirts, as i come in i notice the 3 sales guys were all talking on their cell phones,OK so i browse around the store for 5 minutes looking for a particular Adidas model of track shoes, cant find em so go to the counter to ask ,spent several minutes waiting for one of these sales guys to hang up their phones and address their customer, after a reasonable amount of time i could see these guys were more interested in whatever was happening on their phones than me so i walked out of their store to the Sports Experts store across the way where i was served courteously and prompltly and walked out of the store with a $200 pair of sneakers, the guys in the other store were still on their phones and seemed totally oblivious to the concept of why they were there.
Here in Memphis, I hear it very rarely, but I'm never really surprised when it happens because it's always a little black lady, no one else. I'd be surprised if I ever heard a male or white person say it.
You must not hang around any older 'country' white ladies. I heard it pretty often at coffee shops, corner stores, and mom and pop type places where the person waiting on you is usually said little old lady.
Heard it every once in a blue moon from some preacher/deacon types, and here in east TN I hear it fairly often from older women too.
I get that all the time here in Dallas. Starbucks, grocery store, courthouse clerk, etc. many of their employees say "Have a Blessed Day" to me instead of "Have a great/nice day." I don't mind it, I was just wondering how common that was elsewhere.
So is it regional?
Happens here in Mississippi every damned day. I got it in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia too, but not so much in New Mexico, New York, California, Washington, or Arizona. So I'm guessing it's a Southern thing?
I use to say it when I worked in retail sometimes. The meaning "Have a Blessed day" doesn't always have a religious meaning behind it. Most of the time it's simply another way of saying "Have a good day". I've heard it all over Texas; heard it in Florida, DC, NC, VA, etc
No need to get your panties in a bunch and think someone is trying to convert you or force their religious beliefs on you. Talk about over analyzing.
No Blessed Day here either. It's just a goodbye or kick in the as*.
