Moving from NJ to Washington state in May. Trying to figure out the cheaper option. We have pretty much sold everything and we are basically only taking clothes and stuff we can fit in the car. Just wondering if it is cheaper for 2 people to fly out and ship the car or make the cross country drive. Anyone here ever done a big move like this?

I'm not sure but i'm fairly certain that shipping your car will be quite expensive and that the different companies that do this are more and less trustworthy.
You're already saving a bunch of money by not having to pay for a moving company. And actually, driving across the country might be a good way to transition from one side of the country to the other. Gas is relatively low now so that's a plus. And the drive could be a great adventure and "introduce" you to the west.
I've driven across the country a few times. When you have someone to do it with, it's a pretty cool thing to do. I like Holiday Inn Expresses btw. They're relatively inexpensive but consistently good.

The moving companies charge more for moves TO the Pacific Northwest and less for moves FROM because of the transport logistics - more people move in than out.
