I'm willing to receive some info from someone who's an employee of an Italian Company working in the States.

My Company wants to transfer me from Italy to the States and I need to have feed back on the VISA type (I guess L-1 visa) and the procedure to subscribe AIRE, the association of Italians resident abroad for more then 1 year.

Many thanks for any help and info.
Miki

I am an Italian citizen.
Any Italian citizen living outside of Italy must register for AIRE.
It is also obligatory by Italian law.
But, it is very easy to do.
Just go to the Italian Consultate web site that is covered by the region where you will live. Download the AIRE forms, make a copy of your passport, and then send them by mail to the Consulate (or give it to them in person, if there is a Consulate in the city where you live). It's simple.

Regarding Visas, unfortunately I plead ignorance. I also have US citizenship, so luckily for me, that part is not an issue. I am sure, with research, you could gain information.

If your employer is asking for a transfer, they can also apply for the visa for you (and it might be H1 or H2). I have quite a few friends who have either transferred here or have been employed here with Italian citizenship. I never heard any worries on their part.

And yes, good luck! (buona fortuna).
