I have read stories that Tampa bay area healthcare is so bad that people wait in the ER 6 to 8 hours to see doctor.

Other places in Florida 20 minutes to 60 minutes.

The city of Houston has medical district a large community of hospitals and medical center!! Almost a city in a city!!

Some places in the US a hour or two hour ER wait time and other places in the US 4 hour wait time. Some people wait days or weeks to see specialist other people a month or more.

So what cities in the US have the best and worse healthcare. The city of Chicago and New York is really bad some people say.

With FL I think it has to with its large elderly population. God's waiting room, they say. It reflects in the literal waiting rooms I would assume. I know FL's VA hospitals are the absolute pits and you said it. A VA hospital in Tampa had a huge scandal not too long ago and was accused of killing over a thousand veterans.

Actually Florida's average ER wait times are below the national average of 24 minutes at 23 minutes. Maryland is the worst at 46 minutes, followed by Massachusetts and Delaware at 35 minutes.

Thanks for posting actual statistics instead of assumptions. Here is another link as to why there are wait times in any state in any ER.

I just check the stats and all hospitals are in minute wait times not hours!!

It seems to be web site set up by Canadians and people from UK saying there are 6 to 8 hour ER wait times in Tampa bay area hospitals.

https://www.floridahospital.com/locations/er-wait-times

ER wait times in minutes in Florida!!

Altamonte Springs, Florida 73 min
Tampa Florida 8 min
Apopka, Florida 29 min
Celebration, Florida 42 min
DeLand, Florida 24 min
Orlando, Florida 21 min
Orange City, Florida 36 min
Palm Coast, Florida 12 min

I don't think any American will allow 4 hour ER wait time that alone any thing more than 4 hours.

There are hundreds of hospitals in Tampa bay area.

I think it just fake website saying there long wait times in ER. And people are believing the web site.

Like others have said, Florida's wait times aren't really that bad. What IS bad about the state of healthcare in Florida is the amount of people who lack health insurance coverage. The percentage of people without health insurance is way above average compared to the national average:

United States - 11.7%
Florida - 16.6%

I know. And it was way worse before the ACA. One out of 4 floridians did not have health insurance back then.

I have to agree on not just Tampa itself, but the adjacent areas. I feel the quality of my health care, has been seriously Compromised since moving to the region.
