North Shore Drive (MN Hwy. 61) on Lake Superior in Minnesota. Absolutely breathtaking scenery with cliffs, tunnels, sweeping forest vistas, and glittering water. Looks a lot like coastal Maine.

Rte 1A along the coastline of New Hampshire, especially around Rye. Mansions on one side, sandy beach with wild roses on the other side. And then you end up in Maine.

Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road in the Black Hills.

Going-to-the-Sun Road, Glacier NP

I-90 across Western Montana into Northern Idaho.

I don't remember the road, but driving through the Clearwater National Forest in Idaho...beautiful.

US 160 from Walsenburg, CO to Alamosa, CO (crossing the Sangres)
US 285 to CO 17 from Buena Vista to Alamosa (the Sawatch and then the San Juans to the west, the Sangres to the east, wide open land, and a sky that appears to be so low you can touch it)
US 52 from Bellevue, IA to Dubuque, IA (prairies, forests, rolling hills, and goat prairies line this route)
Michigan Route 28 from Marquette to Munising (thick forests and Lake Superior coastline)
Wisconsin Route 35 from Prairie du Chien to La Crosse (driving up the shores of the Mississippi River through the heart of the Driftless Region)

Another one I don't think was mentioned: US Hwy. 163 between Mexican Hat, Utah, and Kayenta, Arizona. Goes through Monument Valley and other landscapes that look like a faraway alien planet. One of the most spectacular drives I've ever taken.
