I probably haven't traveled as much as most of you guys have, but I'll just give my list based on the experiences I have had.
The Midwest (I live here now, but will be moving soon.)-I'm about tired of cold weather and I think it's time for me to see what it's like to live in a place that always has nice weather (I've lived in the Midwest my whole life). I think the cities here, even the big ones(including Chicago), are pretty boring. I was born in Indianapolis and I live there right now. I hate it. Ohio is decent depending on what part you live in. I lived in Toledo, Ohio, which I actually liked a little bit.
The South-Sorry to just brush off a whole region, but I just don't like the South at all. The mosquitoes down there don't like me either, lol.
Kentucky and Tennessee-Been through both numerous times. Don't like either one. Of course, every state has at least a few cities that are urbanized, but there are some states that have urban cities that still have a rural twist on them if you know what I mean. Kentucky and Tennessee are both guilty of this. I wouldn't call myself a big city person, but I don't like rural areas at all.
Pennsylvania-I don't even know where to start on this one.
I hate cold weather, so I guess that eliminates the east coast and northeast, although I've never been to those areas. I would like to visit NYC and Boston someday. I've never been to the southwest or the west coast, so I can't comment on those cities. Southern California seems nice though. I love warm weather. Las Vegas seems nice, but I've heard if you don't gamble a lot or don't have your own show there, there is really nothing special about it.
From an outsider POV (I'm not from the US), St Louis without a doubt. I have spent some time there with the in-laws...oh boy. That city has no redeeming features. Dull, ugly, sprawling and dangerous and a dirty old river with half a McDonalds arch over it.
I HATE big cities and Yankee fans.. When I told people I was moving to Philly, lots of people said "OOOH, you can visit NY whenever.." I'm like yuch, why?
