Any place more than a 2 hour drive from the Rockies, seriously. I've tried it a few times and nearly went into withdrawals. Never again.

Anywhere more than 80 miles from the coast. Anywhere West of the eastern time zone. Anywhere North of Georgia. Pretty much leaves Florida!
No But seriously ANY STATE BUT
Florida,North Carolina,California, Texas, and Arizona. Every other state is unappealing.

Though born and raised there, I don't EVER want to live anywhere near the Washingon/Baltimore Metro areas ever again. I can hardly stand to visit family who still live there. Great area growing up - totally different world there now.
I could live almost anywhere in North or South Carolina, or possible Alabama, but unlike most people, I prefer the flatlands or foothills to the mountain areas. Some aspects of the Midwestern States are appealing to me, but I think I'm a "fish out of water" when I leave the East Coast.
I would not want to live in California, Arizona, or anywhere else where there is an arid desert climate. That kind of terrain does not appeal to me at all, nor does year round heat. I didn't find the Western terrain of Montana and Idaho appeallng either. Plus, it costs a lot of money to live in those places, not to mention the long winter heating bills.
I have visited but could not live in Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Southern Georgia or Florida.
It's interesting all the different perspectives here on this thread - all the different likes and dislikes. I guess to each his own.

Phoenix, AZ. Just a bit too crazy for me (crazy drivers, crazy gun owners, crazy heat in the summer, ... but also crazy hot women).
LA. It just wasn't my kinda town when I visited.
Now that I'm married, I would never live away from anyplace that has a significant Japanese presence, as my wife is Japanese.

Panama City Beach, Florida. Fun place to visit, but I don't see why anyone would want to live there.

I don't care which state it is; all of them are good and I can be very, VERY happy in any one of them. I don't need the material things and other aesthetics that you promote; I'm happy with life.

Saint Louis isn't run down. Sure some areas are, but there are some really beautiful areas of Saint Louis.

I could never live in the South, anywhere more than an hour from the ocean, anywhere without all 4 seasons, and California.
