Just move to the PNW. Really, it is only an airplane ride away. Get the authentic NW feel. If you want a big city, Seattle fits the bill, and Portland more small-big-city. Eugene is mid-sized. Plenty of smaller cities in the western portions are there, Salem, Medford in Oregon, and Olympia and Bellingham in Washington.
