The west. I'm originally from the Midwest and it was too cold, and the economy had tanked so bad that it just isn't ever going to be what it was.

The west has better scenery if you ask me.

They both offer different things. Certain people will be more attracted to the west , while others will prefer the Midwest.

Midwest has better cost of living and is great for blue collar jobs and more urban environments.

The west is great for scenery/wildlife with some high tech hubs on the coast.

How far east is west in your question? Nevada, Utah, Colorado?

Rocky Mtn states will be significantly different than coastal states in opportunities, amenities, culture, and weather.

I would say there both awsomo. The West and The Midwest.. I like them both.
They are just different and they have different strengths. The West is mostly arid and mountainous with the exception of the northwest where it rains a lot. It has mountains the Rocky's , beaches (Pacific Ocean) and deserts . The Midwest is has extreme cold winters and hot summers has deciduous forests and lots of fresh water which the West does not have (the Great Lakes). I think the Midwest is more sustainable overall than the West Ie Southern California Arizona New Mexico Nevada because do not have significant sources of water to support its population in the future unless desalination plants are built or something along those lines.

Depends on which state/city but Midwest. You can live like a king or at least comfortably in the Midwest without being wealthy, try doing that in coastal California. On the flip side the west as a whole probably has more dramatic topographic beauty than what you would find in the Midwest. That being said pacific beaches are often too cold to swim in anyway so I don't know how much use you would actually get out of them unless you're super into surfing.

There are plenty of affordable areas in the West. Don't stereotype all of us because of California.
