Depends on the time of year. I mean, if it's a dream, then I can afford multiple places, right?
1) Summer? The Pacific Northwest or the Rockies.
2) Fall? The Northeast.
3) Winter? San Diego or Hawaii. I despise cold weather.
4) Spring? The Southeast, particularly somewhere along the Appalachians. Hard to beat.
The ideal spot in my mind is some small town inundated with traditional values and community spirit...parades on the 4th of july, respect for teachers and police officers, safe schools, christmas traditions embraced rather than ridiculed, local stores and businesses rather than mega-stores and malls, clean, safe, friendly...you know, the kind of place that no longer exists. Mayberry, i suppose.
I would also like my town to have never heard of the internet, cell phones, and video games. So, i guess i'd really like to relocate to 1950.
Today every city is the same. Depending upon your financials you will live in the nice, okay, or crappy part of your town and it will be similar to the nice, okay or crappy part of any other city. Same stores and restaurants, same personalities, same same same. I've lived all over and this is my opinion. It's like television has shown us a few ways to act and live and there is nothing original in us anymore.

Beautiful. Remember Back to the Future? The 1950's town Marty returns to? Loved that.
Denver in 2010. Right when the economy was turning around, downtown was being revitalized, housing was cheap, trails were not crowded, traffic was light, and the city wasn't over run by weed tourists, yuppies, and investors.
My dream place is where I live now. If I was to go elsewhere, Orlando/Tampa region of FL. I love that area for what my family loves in a place to live. There's really no wrong answer, just what different people look for in life.
