I agree. Raleigh has a population of over 400,000 and some excellent public schools.

I grew up in Raleigh, NC. I can vouch for their public school system! Top notch, and surrounded by top notch universities. I live in Plano, TX now. Seemingly also very good schools here in the north Dallas area.

Perhaps Manchester NH is another city that would fit. Maybe Berkeley CA?

The 200k number is tough. I mean, major cities have some great schools, but it's very neighborhood centric, generally related to affluence. E.g. Lincoln Park High School in Chicago serves North of North and South of Fullerton, and is a great school. Go above Fullerton or below North, andddd not so much.

If we bring it down to 100k and up, I'd say Bellevue, WA/Irvine, CA Berkeley, CA/Cambridge, MA/Naperville, IL/Portland, ME come to mind. Expand that to 200k and up, and i'd say pockets of almost any city, right? But not a single city will be universally great. Someone said Rahleigh, Minneapolis.. I'd add Charlotte, Chicago, Boston, NYC, San Francisco. I mean, really any.

^I hate when people post just to post, and can't answer the original question. My bad! : )
