My cultural background. I've moved way too many times to have a strong regional identification, and so I bond with people from my culture/ethnicity whenever I move again. It's not intentional, just the way things go.
To add to my earlier post...in my current home of Albuquerque, I identify more with the state than the city. Albuquerque is not really that interesting a city in and of itself. What makes Albuquerque interesting is the fact that it's in New Mexico, and New Mexico is a totally cool state.
Truly none of the above currently. Maybe I'll find a place I can identify with later. Although when it comes down to it it will probably be a part of the South.
1. Definitely my city. Cincinnati has its own unique culture that actually makes it hard to straight up identify with being from one particular region.
2. Area (SW Ohio, Southern Indiana, NKY)
3. Region and State are tied. I'm de facto a Midwesterner and Ohioan. However, the implications of both are more complex for a Cincinnatian. Identify way more with both city and area
Town: Valdez
Area: Greater Copper River Valley
State: Alaska
I don't feel much identity with the North, but I'm still quite new here. I never identified with the South when I lived down that way either though. It pretty much stops at the state borders for me.
