Having said that, I sitll absolutely love the place. In 5 years there my home was broken into 4 times, and that was with an alarm system. I don't know what it says about me that I would still move back there in a heartbeat if I could.
Louisville: west end (west of 9th St. and north of I-264 or Cane Run Road)
Lexington: northside (along and north of US 60)
Covington and Newport: project areas in the downtown areas
in san diego county, within the city of san diego, defnitely logan heights which is just to the east of downtown. also the imperial area is crap and people get killed there all the time for stupid reasons.
in the south bay, i'd say west chula vista is the worst, with national city following but WOW have the areas improved.
east county, definitely santee/el cajon. probably still the meth capitols of the world
central city, mira mesa sucks.
within the urban area, areas to the east of hillcrest such as north park are GHETTO!!!!
north county is absolutely amazing, but if there were two bad cities in north county, no local would hesitate to say escondido or oceanside (oceanside is near camp pendleton, and a lot of military lives there)
Honestly, theres no area of Boston I'd really avoid but I guess you'd have to say Mattapan, Dorchester, and Roxbury. Well, certain areas of each. Chelsea and Everett are essentially rough areas in Boston too. Other cities in Mass that might make the list are Lowell, Lawrence, Brockton, New Bedford, Fall River, Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee.
