30s professional w/ 6 years experience in F500 finance. I'm looking to take a few trips around the US to scout places to visit and eventually move to. I'm looking for cheaper COL, but access to golf (doesn't have to be super nice courses), within an hour of skiing/snowboarding (doesnt have to be world class, I stink at it), tennis, and within 90min of an international airport.

Northern Idaho (CDA/Sandpoint area), Burlington VT, Missoula, and Ogden UT look enticing. Do you guys have any other suggestions? I'm welcome to ANY suggestions.

Just about any city in Upstate NY, PA and Western MA; perhaps places like Winchester or Harrisburg in VA and Morgantown WV, among others.

I know you've already mentioned it but Burlington VT absolutely be my first choice if I were you. The beauty of that area is simply stunning. Plus you are in close proximity to all the skiing and golf upstate NY has to offer.

If the OP wants something a little more affordable and doesn't mind something a little bit smaller, Plattsburgh on the other side of Lake Champlain may work as well.

If you change your drive requirement to skiing to 2-3 hrs, you could do well in Phoenix

Great point ckhthankgod. Plattsburgh NY is an amazing town right across Lake Champlain from Burlington. According to Sperling's, Plattsburgh is much more affordable. 28% less expensive. Great deal considering they are only a few miles away from each other.

Yea and it is within an hour away/closer to Montreal. So, you can get your major city fix whenever you feel like it too.

Plattsburgh, NY looks like it is losing population. I would be cautious about moving there...

It has? It actually added people during the last decade and if the estimates are showing a loss, they are small and I would wait until 2020. Clinton County is showing population gains and it has a manufacturing base that has actually been growing.
