Hi, finishing nursing school fiancée and I are looking to move change our current lifestyle. We like to stay on the East coast (Maine to Texas) as it wouldn't be a far drive or plane ride back home (Conneticut).

Schools are somewhat important. Many say oh your State has the best school system, but really it depends on crime and how much the financial resources of that school system. More in regards to schools looking for a safe school system.

Jobs we are both in the healthcare field. Large population of individuals over 60, lots of rehab facilities, and decent hospital system/with a childrens hospital, and psych services.

Weather we enjoy four seasons, but we could do with less snow. Rather have more rain then snow (25 inches or less snow a year on average). Weather where you can be outdoors all year round biking, running, hiking, and maybe swimming. Fiancée is not a huge fan of driving in the snow or a lot of humidity. Doesn't phase me, but mostly it is do to her having asthma. Anything with 50% or less humidity in the summer on average is good for us.

Look for a place can escape to camp, hike or go to the beach in an hour or less. Hopefully the area has a lake or river near by if not on the coast. Lots of open forest and mountains. Good number of State Parks.

Middle of the road taxes. Preferably an area with income tax 7% or lower. Sales tax 6% or lower. Gas tax 40 cents or lower per gallon. Property tax is not a huge deal.

Place can find a 3 bdr place for $225K or less on average.

Decent State college system.

How about Asheville or Waynesville (slightly cooler year round). Lots of open forests and mountains. Little humidity, little snow, lots of people over 60, safe.

Like Asheville nursing psy is about $5 less an hour then where I currently live and good amount of colleges. Considered Roanoke not sure it's a big drop in pay to live there. Heard the hospitals are excellent there though.

Perhaps Charlottesville VA, which is in Central VA. Something just outside of Richmond may be another option.

I have friends in the med field who seem to enjoy Hagerstown MD.
