I don't want the concept of diversity shoved down my throat simply because it's PC. I realize this will not happen however, as PC is Americas current idol.

You mention what you don't want. What do you want in response? When I posted something here, I mentioned what I wanted.

As far as diversity, I view it like this. It doesn't hurt. If I live in a diverse community, nice. If not, well, okay then. I've always fancied myself as a global citizen type. On the other hand, when it comes to people, what matters the most is this. Acceptance, and being safe. I've been exposed to crime in areas that were 80-90% White, so I do think crime can happen in all kinds of places.

I will be honest. When I hear about people complaining about diversity, what I really think is "said persons don't want people of a certain ethnicity there". Being Black, I'm often considered the "diversity".

Diversity is nice, though its not a determining factor in where I move. I am weary of "diversity critical" places a bit since they tend to have a bad vibe but I don't think there is anything with living in a mostly homogeneous town/neighborhood.

Most people probably don't live in ethnically homogeneous neighborhoods by choice. Decades of housing discrimination pretty much saw to that.

And when that ended, many people who weren't happy with that fled. There are people who want to see housing discrimination take place. For them, it keeps "those people" out.

It's interesting that for some people the benefits of "diversity" can be summed up in the number of ethnic restaurants within walking distance. But I guess if you're not a minority yourself (or have no type of ethnic consciousness whatsoever) then that's essentially all it amounts to.

I think the responses to this question would also vary significantly based on the age of the respondent. Most people who finished high school in the 70s, 80s or 90s did not attend a school that's nearly as diverse as the schools kids are attending today. Racial minorities, I believe, now make up a majority of the country's 18 and under population or will make up a majority some time in the very near future.

The 21st Century is really wrecking a lot of people's conception of America. Remember all of the teen movies from the 80s where the only minorities were characters like Luk Dong Duk in Sixteen Candles? Or the kid with broken English in the Goonies? That seemed so normal then, didn't it? Like the way things should be. Sure, there was the Cosby Show, but that was just one mainstream show out of several. You didn't have to worry about this diversity "stuff" being pushed in your face every 5 minutes.

Fast forward 20 years later and you've got the George Lopez Show, Modern Family, Blackish, Fresh off the Boat, and bi-racial couples in Super Bowl commercials. Then to top it off, you've got Obama in the White House and he selected two Black people as Attorney General. This is just too much change to handle! What happened? Where is this all coming from?!?!?!?

Here is another example of the liberal media force feeding "diversity" down the throats of ordinary, hard-working Americans. What happened to more realistic depictions of America like Saved by the Bell?

Here's yet another example of the liberal media shoving "diversity" in our faces: The Hunger Games. The author could have made Rue a White girl, but no, she made her Black. Amandla Stenberg brought this on herself when she accepted the role of a sweet, innocent girl.
