Well, in my case, my standards went up as I got older. I was that kid who could never get a date for various reasons. I will divulge details later if you like, but not in this post. My expectations were lower. However, as I got older, starting seeing people around me get divorced, started finally seeing the epidemic of single mothers giving birth out of wedlock, I started getting stricter.

Things that would make me not want to date a certain woman:
-Piercings other than earrings
-Tattoos
-Fake hair
-Meanness/attitude issues
-Kids, particularly if had out of wedlock and never got married.
-Disregard for education
-A dirty past
-Drug use
-Heavy alcohol use
-History of cheating

Reasons for this: I have no piercings or tattoos. I don't do fake hair. I will give my best in terms of niceness/decent attitude/being loving. I dont' have any kids and I'm not ready for them yet. I'm also a virgin at age 30. I am a college educated professional. I don't do drugs and I like to have self-control when it comes to alcoholic beverages. I will never cheat.

Things I expect from a woman are not much different than from what I expect out of myself. I woman must be on my level. If she isn't, it's wasting my time.

What is the best city for single men from 20-35? I think it depends on who you are and what you're looking for in a woman.

Education levels, race, career level, having or not having kids(many single women in Atlanta have had kids out of wedlock).
Not a problem in NYC imo. Many single women in their 30s don't have kids and are single because they were focused on their education and careers.

NYC is good because:
- Very good ratio of women to men, because NYC is a large employment center in traditionally women-dominated industries such as fashion, design, marketing, publishing, entertainment, media, etc.
- Good night life for all age groups and a lot of other events where you can easily mingle with other people.
- Public transportation that is 24/7, so people do tend to drink when they go out, since they don't have to drive. No designated drivers and all that other bs.
- Last call is 4am, with a lot of other amenities open 24/7.

The only thing wrong is the cost of living. Other than that, if this is the case, then NYC wouldn't be bad for single men. Just gotta make the money to live there.

I think any city that is even the slightest bit urban will work. There's a lot of cities in the US that are very sprawly and only have 1-3 walkable areas. That certainly limits your options as those places tend to lean toward family friendly. So really most big cities in the US would work. It doesn't have to be a NYC, Boston, or SF, etc. Cities like Denver, Seattle, Portland, and even cities smaller than that would work. Take your pick. The best thing is not to worry about the female-to-male ratio, but just make sure it's a lively enough city. Obviously you don't want to live somewhere that only has a few bars Downtown.

I moved to NYC recently and love it.

Miami Beach is an awesome place to be single the women here are super gorgeous but a lot of them are gold diggers. If you are successful like a lawyer or doctor or even better a trust fund baby this is the place for you. I like it here but I wish they had more down to earth people here.

I don't want to deal with a gold digger. What if you are someone who makes around 40,000 per year?
