10. West Virginia
9. Idaho
8. Montana
7. South Dakota
6. New Mexico
5. Tennessee
4. Oklahoma
3. Mississippi
2. Alaska
1. Alabama

I wouldn't necessarily place West Virginia in that category at all. They have always voted and leaned to the democratic party until very recently.

Alaska may be Conservative but the state receives some of the biggest handouts by the Federal government percentage wise for its population.

Yeah. The term "conservatives" is pretty broad. As the current republican nomination has made abundantly clear...you have your fiscal conservatives and your social conservatives...and they don't necessarily see eye to eye on a lot of things, even if they both tend to vote republican.
