What Are Some UNIQUE, But Simple Free Activities In Your Area? Here in the Charlotte area, one is a very nice airport overlook on a bluff beside one of the main runways. It's free and you can park and watch from your vehicle or get out and sit on benches. There's a tree-shaded picnic area. At the sitting area, there are informational plaques describing the different planes with photos that is very interesting. Aviation enthusiasts love going out to take pictures/video. Charlotte's airport is very busy, so there's always plenty to see. It stays open until about 10:30 at night. It's really, really nice. My parents brought my brothers and me when we were kids in the 1960's/70's. We would took our children when they were little (now young adults 21-25). We'll take our granddaughter when she gets a little older. People of all ages visit. If I have some time to kill and I'm out that way, I'll grab a bite, sit in the car with my windows down, and watch the planes. Very relaxing........Look forward to everyone's responses.

Minneapolis - free concerts on Lake Harriet in the summertime. They have a band shell with permanent benches set up the grassy areas to toss down blankets or folding chairs. Totally free. Everything ranging from classical orchestra to bluegrass to cover bands doing folk music etc...
