I know Palm Beach County in Florida and Coachella Valley (Palm Springs) in California have tons of golf and retirement communities. Then to a much lesser extent some of the other coastal areas around Florida and the Carolinas like Amelia Island and Hilton Head.
Are there any other metros like Palm Beach and Palm Springs that are just packed with retirement communities? Doesn't have to be any particular climate or region.
I don't know what county this is in but nothing tops The Villages, FL in my opinion. I also heard that Medford, OR and St. George, UT are heavily populated with golf and retirement communities.
I would think Phoenix tops the cake. SE Florida has some but thanks to being wedged between the Atlantic Ocean and The Everglades/swamp it lacks the room for the geographic sprawl needed for the massive planned retirement communities you see a lot of in Arizona.
Sarasota and Fort Meyers are loaded with retirement communities. I would not be surprised if the average age in those cities was close to 60.
