What?! Wow, I never heard that one! Times change, I guess. The stereotype used to be of Brit types having tea and crumpets. People often assumed that Victoria was representative of the rest of BC.

Ruth4Truth, I'm glad that you haven't heard these ones! The snobby rep comes mostly from Vancouver. And I think our reserved Canadian demeanor can be mistaken as rude. I lived in Victoria for many years, I think it is definitely the most British-influenced in the province.

Southern California. Airheads, potheads, gangsters, actors, vegans, weird fitness fads, yoga, surfing, theme parks, breast implants, Botox-- and, "like", that funny accent: all true, to varying degrees. But as others have pointed out, much more of a rat race than its "laid-back" reputation would suggest.
