Wth Latin culture, LA or New Orleans
Didn't think of Tel Aviv! That's an excellent answer. I love their beachfront.

Santa Monica did come to mind, but then I really thought about it, no Miami Beach is far superior and really when you think about it they are quite different.

My take is no where in the continental US can you find the same scale of an Ocean Drive with the combination of Collins, Washington Ave and Lincoln Rd. I have not been to Hawaii or PR, but I have been to a host of other Caribbean islands and South American countries.

In terms of the street vibrancy and pedestrians ability to walk up in and outside of bar/clubs/restaurants even Copacabana and Ipanema take a back seat to Miami Beach. I was recently in Brazil, and Copacabana although maybe a longer strip than South Beach does not have the same feel as Ocean Drive it is too spaced out. Also ironically the water is actually prettier in Miami. The difference in Rio of course is the street vibrancy/intensity you get as you walk inland from the main beaches, those neighborhoods are completely built up. There is more of a NYC vibe walking inland from the beach on both Copa and Ipanema/Leblon areas. This is more intense than what you get in Miami going inland, thus being another reason why I view them more different than anything.

Miami Beach is honestly very unique we are lucky to have it in the US.

I was just there for the first time in July! Amazing place! Before I went, I'd heard it was similar to Miami. Those who said that were proved right! I do think Miami probably has better beaches/weather because it's warmer, though.

The unique architecture ties them together. Miami Beach has Art Deco, Tel Aviv has Bauhaus.

I raised an eyebrow over that one as well. I would lump Daytona in with Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, Atlantic City and Ocean City. Carnival-By-The-Sea.

I never said it hasn't. But Miami is better known for its Art Deco than most, if not any, cities. Not to mention how much of France was destroyed in the wars.
