The beaches are pretty. It has several different kids of beaches, and the natural springs and caves throughout the state are also very interesting.

One of my favorite experiences was snorkeling with manatee in Crystal River. Florida's a beautiful state. I'd probably rank it 2nd.

Though I voted for NC.

Florida doesn't need "fall color". It has bright colors on display all year long. Absolutely no state save perhaps Hawaii has more colorful flora than Florida.

The golden rain tree blooms throughout the Florida peninsula in Fall. It has bright yellow flowers for one month and then the seed pods are raspberry red and stay for another month. Fall color right there.

Virginia, hands down. Especially in and around the Appalachian mountains. I would rank Tennessee second as it also has a beautiful landscape from border to border.

Totally man made lakes and not natural scenery. Not sure if that matters, but kinds of reduces the allure if you ask me.

1. North Carolina: So much variety. Gorgeous mountains. The Foothills and Piedmont areas have a lot of variety. Outer Banks is beyond beautiful and unique.

2. Virginia: Pretty much for the same reasons as NC, but just a half step below.

3. Florida: Incredible beaches, especially the white sand on the Gulf Coast. The biggest variety of greenery, flora, and water fowl of any state in the continental U.S. So many beautiful lakes within cities like Orlando and Lakeland. The Everglades. The Keys. I just love this state.

don't think it matters for most people. the blue ridge mountains next to them are not man made though.

i thinkk florida has a polarizing effect, people either really love it or really dislike it.

I think NC is the prettiest bc of the combo of beaches, mountains, fall color, and nice forests in the piedmont. VA has really nice mountains also, but I think NC beaches beat those in VA.

Florida to me is great and I love the beaches and the tropic feel in the southern part of the state, but it doesn't have the diversity.
