Does anyone happen to know what region of the U.S. has the largest rural to semi-rural black population? Is it the "black belt" and does it extend to southern Virginia?

Regions, the whole southeast. As far as states, probably Mississippi. It's a very rural state with no major cities and 70% Black.

Brunswick, Greensville, and Sussex County are all majority black (in the range of 55%-60%). A lot of other rural counties in south central Virginia also have large black minorities (in the range of 30%-49%).

Mississippi is about 38% Black and Jackson is at least a top 100 metro in terms of population.

You could possibly extend this into the Eastern Shore of MD and even into DE. Both have small/rural towns in that 20-50% Black range. For instance, Seaford DE, a small city of about 7000 in southern DE, is 44% Black.

Western TN would also fit.

If you look at that map posted earlier in the thread, it nearly extends all the way up the coast through new Jersey almost to NYC
