Driving from Seattle to San Diego in May with a stop in San Francisco. How long of a trip will this be? Want to bypass Los Angles and avoid the traffic there..what is best route to use.
Thanks.

I believe you will avoid the traffic if you drive during the night

Pretty much the 5 all the way. I took this trip from Washington to LA. No problem. Albeit I left on a Fri and got home 1.5 days later.

I hit every in-climate weather on this trip during Feb a couple yrs ago. Hale, snow, rain, more rain, sunshine.

Look out for all those 18 wheelers!! They think they are bad asses.

Bring a camera with you so you photograph some of the lovely scenery like Shasta springs!

When you get close to LA, take 405. It splits off of 5 on the beach side and then rejoins at the other end of LA. It will have traffic, but not near as much as 5 through LA. Day or night.
