I have always loved the style of bridges seen in DC. The Memorial, the Taft and the Dumbarton are stand outs in my opinion.

Those are great. Interesting how similar the Taft bridge looks to Pasadena's Colorado street bridge.

I think it's a case of when they were built, around the turn of the century and prior to the evolution of a bridge into something strictly more functional versus incorporating an artistic element.

This is the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, I don't know if it would be considered beautiful by most, but it does have a nice symmetry to it. And it is 4 miles long, and pretty darned high too.

The sheer length of that bridge is astounding. I was glad NOT to drive it when I was in the area!
