Huh? It's nowhere near that big.

You must be thinking of city-limits population, which isn't relevant here.

In all fairness, your revision must include Cincinnati - especially in relation to cities #27-#30.

Take into account...

(a) Cincinnati's UA (2010) is larger than Kansas City, Orlando, Virginia Beach or Charlotte;

(b) Cincinnati's MSA (2015) is larger than Las Vegas, Kansas City or Cleveland;

(c) Cincinnati's GDP (2015) is larger than Kansas City, Orlando, Sacramento, San Antonio, Las Vegas or Virginia Beach. (http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/regi..._metro0916.pdf)

Also consider that...

(d) Metro Cincinnati is the nation's 13th largest exporter. (Trade.gov - Top 50 Metro Area Exporters) The enclosed PDF's reveal not only how closely Cincinnati ranks just behind Philadelphia, but also how it is the third biggest exporter in the Midwest, behind only Chicago and Detroit. In fact, in many cases, metro Cincinnati exports twice that of any two metros listed below it.

(e) The Port of Cincinnati/NKY is the nation's largest inland port. (Table 1-57: Tonnage of Top 50 U.S. Water Ports, Ranked by Total Tons(a) | Bureau of Transportation Statistics)

(f) Metro Cincinnati is home to nine F500 companies. These include Kroger, the nation's largest traditional grocery store chain; Procter & Gamble. the world's largest consumer products company and advertiser; and Macy's, the nation's largest and most well-known clothing retailer.

(g) Metro Cincinnati is home to GE Aviation, where the majority of the world's commercial jet engines are designed, tested and manufactured. In fact, there's probably not one major airport in the world where one of these jet engines isn't revving up at this very moment.

(h) Cincinnati is rated the Midwest's premier marketing/branding hub.

(i) Cincinnati is home to NFL and MLB teams.

Lastly...

(j) Cincinnati is Ohio's largest MSA; also its GDP is expected to become the state's largest in either 2016-17.

Ok, I am in agreement that Cincinnati kicks KC off for its spot.

You raise good points. But, LV and Orlando are large tourist locations and still large cities even if their economies are smaller, they are somewhat more famous cities due to visitors/tourism. Sacramento is the state capital of the largest state in the US (CA contains 1/8 of the countries population), while its population is larger than Cincinnati, its economy is not. Charlotte is much smaller UA in 2010 but is probably much larger than it was by now. Its GDP is 22nd largest among metros and 8th busiest airport nationally.

Cincinnati is close to Louisville, Columbus, Dayton, Indianapolis, and Lexington whereas KC is relatively isolated. The only thing is that Cincinnati airport is sort of weak at 53rd nationally probably due to so much competition nearby. If nothing else Cincinnati probably replaces / kicks KC off for 30th place in all fairness, and may challenge Sacramento, Orlando, and maybe Las Vegas to take 27th place. Thank you for correcting this.

Charlotte use to be the second largest banking center in the U.S. after NYC which would make it quite important though that standing may have changed.

I don't think Riverside-San Bernardino is particularly important. Populous? Yes. important? Not so sure.

24th largest GDP, 21st largest urban area, located very close to LA, it is part of the top 30 for only those reasons (populous).
