The emo thing may have started as a musical preference, but now it's just a look and attitude. It means "emotional." You should see these kids--it's sort of part goth part punk, very mopey. I grew up in the 80s, and I thought some of those looks were weird.

I was cluless to this "movement" as well, until my 2 teenage stepsons filled me in.

Oh brother ... they are Cure wannabes! Cure, Smiths, Joy Division ... can't they be more original??? So 80's.

Teens are often perceived in a negative light by those older than them. I'm not sure if its because the older ones remember how they were at that age, or just mistrust, or what the reasoning. Regardless, this should stop before it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Marijuana legalized? that is unheard i think people who use marijuana should get stronger sentences than they do now!

Where we live now, none of the kids smoke marijuana, nor do our daughter's friends. My husband grew up in Boston and has never smoked, nor have any of his friends. I think alot depends on your neighborhood and the type of people you surround yourself with
(And what is the difference between smoke and do marijuana)

In fact my daughter just gave a speech at her school (private) about the negative effects of marijuana and drugs, and the entire class came up to her afterwards to commend her on the material.

i commed your family and your daughter for talking about the negative effects of marijuana and drugs to bad she couldnt come to my area and give that same speech to the kids maybe it would work!
