i am looking to move out of new mexico for a better quality of life (and to be around water and lakes)...the thing i do like about where i live is lots of liberals and spiritual people, but the lack of water, expense and cold weather is not a match for me (along with alot of military stuff i am aware of here)
Looking to move somewhere warmer, medium sized city, with beautiful nature, good music scene, liberal people and affordable
right now i am considering a few areas in arkansas..fayetteville and hotsprings..can't seem to find any other cities where it is not freezing that fit the bill..considered tampa area however i am more a rivers and lakes person (lived in south florida for 5 years in ft lauderdale) and there is alot of crime in tampa)...of course if i had money i'd like in northern cal lol..one can dream
Gainesville FL would fit your criteria quite well. It's progressive/liberal, a warmer climate other than a month or so in Jan/Feb, has many nearby lakes along with the Santa Fe River and natural springs, lots of trees/forest in/around the area, has a very good music scene thanks to the U of Florida's presence (Gainesville is where Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Sister Hazel and many others got started), has a lower cost of living (one bedroom apartments average $750 a month) and it's not overrun with crime (in fact it's pretty much relegated mostly to an area or two on the east side).
i cannot afford $750 a month..i am disabled but appreciate it..i also have lived near mountains for 14 years and would miss them too much
i am thinking of moving out the country to be brutally honest..
If you can't afford $750 a month you can't afford any of your criteria and you definitely cannot afford to leave the country unless you want to live in a third world country. Cities where liberals live are expensive. One word, taxes.

Yeah I second this. First of all $750 even in the cheaper parts of the country is not that easy to find, unless it's a small studio or dumpy apartment. On top of that liberal cities tend to be more expensive. I would suggest looking in college towns in the south and Midwest, which might not be super liberal, but since a lot of college students live there you might find cheaper rent, and with that being said you might have to live surrounded by a lot of students.
Check out Athens GA as it fits your criteria (including $600 a month or less) other than the mountains, though you can get to them in about an hour and a half.
Perhaps parts of St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Florida.
