State that is not underrated regionally, but is nationally? (houses, job market)

As far as cities go, I would say Madison and Milwaukee, WI have become very underrated.
I left the state for greener pastures and other job opportunities. After experiencing Denver and Minneapolis post boom and gentrification, its a great feeling to go back to Milwaukee and see it grow without the ridiculous re development. Milwaukee is so similar to Portland pre 2010. It's a great city for the creative community, and is incredibly affordable. It's mostly overlooked now because people will just gravitate towards Chicago or Minneapolis.
I'd argue New Jersey fits the bill to a certain extent. It is the place for seaside recreation for much of New York and Pennsylvania, but few people outside of the region would ever consider going on a beachfront vacation there.
Quite true. The Delaware Water Gap is also very popular, and The Philadelphia Botanical Club visits Southern New Jersey multiple times a year.
*And people from PA sometimes go to NJ to shop at a full service liquor store.
I would also chime in regarding New Jersey. Clearly those talking bad about it have either never visited or only driven through via one particular highway. The areas along the Delaware River or the NW section rival most anywhere else for scenery.
I agree with New Jersey. Nationally I think people think of the jersey shore for being like the show, but really there are a ton of really nice , posh beach towns as well. Also, I think it is forgotten for being a huge part of the NYC metro
As popular as Portland is, I don't see how Oregon could possibly fall under the "nationally underrated" umbrella. Same with Washington.
I would say states like Ohio, West Virginia, and Arkansas. Those are states that have a certain national perception but aren't exactly what people think.
I think Texas is a powerhouse of its region/s but I think its underrated nationally.I know many people will disagree with me but thats just what I think.

In what ways do you think Texas is underrated? It has very high net domestic migration so obviously people are moving there. Do you think it's so underrated that even more people need to be moving there?
