Do people that live in those homes pass them down to children? I mean, if I owned one, i would never give it up. How much is it to live in one? Millions?
I voted for Seattle though. I like weather better and I think the downtown has more going on. The cost of living is much less as well. The crime is better. Boston does have much more culture and architecture that can't be matched by any other city.

I picked Seattle. I was an east coaster, living in D.C. and New York. Cool vibe but needed a change. I actually love the pnw moreso than mid-atlantic/northeast. Boston has the history but I like the newer Seattle. We don't have the most museums or best library but we do have those things. We do have churches, nightlife, great food, people, culture, one of if not the most educated population in the country. We have professional sports, a fantastic downtown, a growing downtown residential population, with the most dt residents than any city its size. Plus I love the pnw weather. Mild with fresh air and beautiful summers and not too cold winters. We're not as dense as Boston but we are definately dense, walkable and bike friendly. And yes natural beauty means a lot to me and seeing it everyday is a blessing.
I voted for Seattle because it is, of the two cities, the place I would rather live a this point in my life. That said, I went to college in Boston and spent five years there. It is an amazing city (especially for a college student) and I have some amazing memories of it.

Up here we call them sun breaks. After December there's alot of it.
November and December are the dreariest, after that the sun slowly
but definitely starts winning out ( although January is still cold with temps in
the 30's & 40's ) Right now spring is in the air. Less books, coffee, movies
and board games, time to enjoy the great outdoors.
I can't vote until I spent some time in Boston, looks like an awesome
place to visit, as well as N.Y., Philly and D.C.
I'm from the school of thought that a cool place to visit isn't always the best place to live. Kinda like not marrying the hot exciting.... high maintance....
Any way, Seattle and Portland area may not be great tourist attraction's
but are nice places to raise a family.
