Roadside Attractions (hotels, home, theater)

I will be having a road trip to the Twin Cities at the end of January. I will be driving from Kansas City to Fargo then down to the Twin Cities.

What are roadside attractions you would recommend for me to see that is not too far from the interstate? I know most of it is in the Great Plains so I don't expect to see much.

Here is what I have so far:


Kansas City, MO
1) Country Club Plaza
2) Truman Library in Independence, MO
3) Maybe try one of KC's BBQ restaurants.

St. Joseph, MO
I don't see anything other than the Pony Express Museum.

Sioux City, IA
I don't see anything interesting so I will pass through.

Omaha, NE
1) Omaha Steakhouse?
I don't see anything else interesting so I will drive through Downtown for the view of Omaha skyline.

Sioux Falls, SD
1) Falls Park
2) SculptureWalk

Fargo, ND

On the way to the Twin Cities:

On Google maps, type in the name of the cities, one at a time for each search, look for the Interstate, and then keep zooming in on the map. The more you zoom in, the more restaurants, hotels and attractions will appear on the map. Then, go to Trip Advisor and find out what people have to say about those attractions in their reviews.

Slight detour from Sioux Falls...Mitchell,SD has the "Corn Palace",
made out of corn.

Kansas City:
1. National Frontier Trails Museum (Independence, Start of the Oregon Trail)
2. National World War I Museum
3. For BBQ, Arthur Bryant's. Right Next Door is Negro League Baseball Museum & American Jazz Museum (1 Admission)
4. DT: Power & Light District/Kauffman Center for Performing Arts/KC Public Library/Arabia Steamboat Museum/Union Station

6. Hallmark Visitor's Center

8. College Basketball Experience
There's plenty to see in KC, but until I know more specifics, that's a good start.

Life is short. Take the 2 hr. long cut up to Lake Itasca to see the Headwaters of the Mississippi, Frozen Over.

Minneapolis has plenty to do that I won't list here for now.
