I like maps and found it interesting when someone posted a map of the counties they had been to on Reddit. I created my own but I colored the ones I have actually spent time on in red and the ones I just drove by in blue. I'm interested in seeing other peoples maps. Thanks!

That's pretty sweet. I may put one together. I wish they had a route mapping tool. That'd make it easier to mark the counties I've driven through.

What defines whether you drove through or visited? Stepping out of your car?

Different reasons, places where I have wandered throughout the county I consider as visited or if I spent a good amount of time there. The red in Arkansas for example I have family in and have been to various lakes, creeks, museums, local stores, restaurants, etc in that area. The red in Oklahoma I have been to numerous times for casinos and restaurants of course because I have to eat when I'm there. "Visited" is really up to your own interpretation. You could consider it as little as one day or years.

This level of mapping is great - if you've never been anywhere. But once you have been to many states, and many places within those states, it become impossible to remember them all - or to associate where you were with the county name.

This. I've spent considerable time in at least 30 states and have lived in 4 others.
