BTW, I don't live in Austin anymore and Corpus is where I'm from, so in the end, I really don't care as much as you do. If I loved Austin, I would be living in Austin as teh COL is much lower than where I live now.
Very typical of someone who doesn't even live in ATX to be out there boosting and promoting. That's why it has become so overcrowded now, making a drive DT such a PITA. I wish I had a nickel for every person I've met in Austin who thinks that everything outside of the city limits is a barren wasteland full of bible thumping rednecks...and yet they've never been anywhere else in TX.

In real life, native Austinites love Houston, SA, Dallas, FW and even El Paso...and vise versa. Its easy to tell who the transplants are by what they think of the other TX cities. I should know, I was like that too when I first moved to ATX from CA

Do you mean boosting to people in DC? No. I wouldn't recommend living in Austin. I'm a native Texan myself. Just went to school in Austin and lived there ten years.

Interestingly, a survey of NC residents was actually recently conducted and and its results have been published.
When I originally weighed in on the thread, I speculated that either Wilmington or Asheville would be #1 since they are places that people go to have fun. Well, it turns out that the two cities were in the top 3 but they didn't finish 1 & 2. Wilmington did top the list but Raleigh came in second with Asheville third.
