And, although I can't find figures, probably less than the capital budget of just AccuWeather in State College. I guess it's better to have real estate investment than the little to nothing at all that characterizes much of upstate NY. Maybe there are enough trust fund babies who like living in Ithaca enough to occupy those developments. It just isn't the type of place you can move to and just assume you can find employment at a salary with what commensurate education and experience brings in many places. Sorry. Wish it were otherwise.
I hear you, but that is why I posted the articles/sites that are more recent.

With that said, outside of the colleges, Borg Warner, CBord, Kionx, Ithaca Beer Company, 3rd Rock Manufacturing, Pall Corporation in Cortland, Lockheed Martin in Owego and Mackenzie Childs in Aurora are some of the private company options in the area or nearby.

Macom, Envisage Information Systems, Rheonix, Palisade and Autodesk are some other Ithaca area companies.

Reno, huh? That is honestly one I have never even thought about before. Lake Tahoe is certainly a draw though. Not sure about the whole gambling lifestyle though, and I would worry a bit about the schools. Of course I could be wrong, so I will try to do a little research on it and see what I can find out. Not sure I would make the cut at Tesla though! Unless they were looking for some marketing folks, then maybe.

You should look it up. Check out this website EDAWN - Economic Development in Reno-Sparks-Tahoe

Schools in Northern NV is much better than than Las Vegas. The only problem is school crowding not quality.

There are tons of transplants in Reno and most never gamble.

The casino is a great amenity for Reno. There are tons of well known large events because of them.

A college town with more employment opportunities and better access to the outdoors would be Morgantown, WV. Morgantown seems much larger than State College and offers more employment opportunities within the region. The year round weather is very mild.

Another vote for rural NY. Biking, hiking, and water activities within very 'cosmopolitan' rural areas.
