I gotta rep the west coast! Definitely better than anything that I've seen while traveling around Europe recently.

But as I've never been to Florida, it sounds like the beaches there are quite nice. Only thing is, to get to the Florida beaches, I'd have to go through Florida :/

CA beaches are generally more scenic with cliffs, etc. but Florida beaches are more practical for swimming which is what I do when I go to the beach. Sunrises on east Florida beaches are beautiful. Sunsets on both are spectacular. Florida has more beach going days.

I prefer California and it's beaches, even though they're cold.

I can't stand Florida.

Southeast FL.....I used to walk down to the beach in the early mornings and watch the schools of fish come in with the waves. So clear you can see right through them. And I love to swim in the ocean and feel all salty and sandy. OMG....I shouldn't be reading this....I miss it sooooo much.

Oh, and it was really awesome to go to the beach when there was a hurricane on it's way.....that was after you boarded up your house and bought your supplies, of course. Scary but awesome....and very humbling.

CA beaches are not freshwater beaches.

Flordia for me. CA beaches have the best mountainous scenery, but I'm more of a fan of the Caribbean tropical scenery. Florida's water is also a lot warmer. Florida's also more built up around the beaches, making it lively along the whole coast. Where else in this country will you find a shuttle launch and landing at a beach? Now that's liveliness!

Who goes to the beach to hike?

Scenery is subjective. I love the Caribbean... the clear turquoise water, white sand beaches, the warmth... so for me FL beats CA any day.
