Denver:
HOT summers, getting well into the 90s and occasionally 100+.
Lower wages, but higher housing costs than many areas
"Keep up with the Joneses" attitude towards outdoor activities, e.g. "how many 14ers have YOU climbed?, etc.
Maybe not surprising, but many people don't like snow in May and/or September.

Vegas unpleasantries:
--110 degree summers. They're not as intense as Phoenix summers, but still pretty bad.
--Lots of illegal immigrants. Illegals who don't speak English, and have the tendency to congest the hospitals and inner-city schools.

I see (I'd imagine the same goes for Miami where you apparently are from)... Perhaps the population might be somewhat unpleasant after all.
