I have created a page for the southernmost northeastern state earlier. Maryland won as a southernmost northeastern state. But there is also a dispute where is the northernmost southeastern state. Some use the VA/NC border, some use the Potomac River, others use the Mason-Dixon Line. The definition for both the Northeast and the Southeast can change over time.

Which state do you think is the northernmost southeastern state? Only one choice per person.

I guess technically WV as part of the panhandle is as far north as NYC

Practically to me it is MD

I voted for MD because I forgot about WV's panhandle.

I was going to complain that Delaware isn't on the list, until I remembered West Virginia's northern panhandle.

North Carolina. If dividing into quadrants, how can the Northeast be so small with the Southeast so massive? We're talking from a geographical perspective here.

Everyone knows Delaware is not a southeastern state.

It doesn't work by dividing into quadrants, though. State, geographic, and cultural boundaries comprise the diving lines.

West Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland are a mixture of northern and southern while Virginia is the first fully Southern state.
