This question takes into consideration property taxes, income taxes, sales tax, etc. I know that there are states with no income taxes, but they get you in other ways. I appreciate any feedback.

I can tell you which ones aren't: Connecticut, Massachusetts, California and New Jersey.

Don't forget New York, Vermont, and Hawaii.

Here's a trivia question, (and don't ponder it too long!) what do all the aforementioned states have in common?

And the greatest amount of people % wise on the welfare rolls. Very rich and poor, side by side. However, the middle class seems to vacate these types of states.

If you consider the three headed monster of income, sales and property taxes rolled into one amount, you get what amounts to the Tax Foundation's matrix of determing "Tax Freedom Day", or the day in which you begin to earn money for yourself, rather than for the mafia (oops, I mean government). Attached is a chart that shows each state by emancipation day:

Sometimes a state without income taxes has high property taxes. Usually it is just in a few areas though. You can find cheap property taxes in a state without income taxes too.

I like living in a state without income taxes (SD) and shopping in a state without sales tax (MN)! I get to cheat!
